Sketchbook After visiting the Joan Flasch Artist Book Collection, we were inspired to create our own books based on photography. The purpose of the sketchbook is to brainstorm ideas and various media in images and to have a more tangible artmaking experience. Often times these sketchbook studies/spreads can lead to larger projects.
Students start off with a theme that will give them direction, but it must also be broad enough to have many interpretations.
Anything goes. Just make sure that you are not just taking someone else's image and pasting it into your book without making any alterations. It is ok to use found images, but you need to edit/assemble into something new and unique.
